Your Mission: As the Head of Design & Construction, you will oversee the entire store development process, from concept to completion. Your leadership will be key in balancing design excellence, cost-effectiveness, and compliance, while driving a culture of innovation and collaboration across all projects.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead & Inspire – Manage a team overseeing new builds, refurbishments, and capital works, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality.
- Strategic Vision – Develop and implement cutting-edge retail design strategies that enhance customer experience while meeting global brand standards.
- Innovation & Trends – Push the boundaries of retail design, integrating the latest trends and technologies to create exciting, future-ready stores.
- Safety & Compliance – Ensure all projects adhere to Australian safety standards and the National Construction Code (NCC) while maintaining a safety-first culture.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement – Work closely with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to streamline processes and optimize cost-efficiency without compromising quality.
- Financial Leadership – Oversee budgets and feasibility studies, making strategic investment decisions that maximize returns.
- Facilities Management – governance over store facility management, ensuring all locations are well-maintained, operationally efficient, and meet targets.
What You Bring to the Role:
- 10+ years of experience in design and construction management within the retail sector, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Interior Design, or a related field (Master’s degree or certification is a plus!).
- Expertise in project management software (MS Project, Primavera), CAD, and familiarity with BIM processes.
- Deep knowledge of Australian construction regulations and safety codes (NCC).
- Proven ability to drive innovation in retail design, embracing new technologies and sustainable practices.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, inspire, and manage a high-performing team.
- Excellent communication skills – able to present complex information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Track record of managing large-scale budgets while ensuring cost-effectiveness.
